Artwork > Green Screen

The solo exhibition “Green Screen” celebrates the arrival of spring with lush large-scale photographs and collages of Minnesota plants. Mosses, Lichens, Oak Leaves, Maple Saplings, and Grasses suffuse these images created using a high-resolution scanner to reproduce this greenery in incredible detail. Like looking through a microscope at a miniature landscape, this series of new works reflects Golden’s passion for art and science by combining collage and botany. A “green screen” on a film set functions as the stage for an imaginary world, but also a removable backdrop to project upon. Golden’s “Green Screen” is also a built world, but made up of the plants that surround us everyday. This exhibition extracts these common plants that form the background of our everyday lives and places them in full view. Golden's images question how we project our values onto plants.
